Gunmen attack construction site in Dadaab, killing four

Garissa County Commissioner Mohamed Mwabodza revealed that two died on the spot, two others succumbed to injuries in Dadaab Hospital, while six escaped unhurt.
Four construction workers were killed in a shooting incident on Friday evening at Bogyar Trading Center in Dadaab Sub-county, Garissa County.
Garissa County Commissioner Mohamed Mwabodza confirmed that unknown assailants attacked ten construction workers at Bogyar, situated along the Garissa-Dadaab Road.

"They were at a dispensary construction site resting after a day of work when unknown gunmen appeared from a nearby thicket, spraying bullets on them," he said.
He revealed that two died on the spot, two others succumbed to injuries in Dadaab Hospital, while six escaped unhurt.
Mohamed said police visited the scene, and investigations are ongoing to establish the motive of the attackers.
Asked whether the attackers were members of Al-Shabaab, who have been known for such attacks, he said the ongoing police investigations would reveal the identity and motives of the attackers.
The County Commissioner urged the local community to cooperate with security officers and report any information that could lead to the apprehension of the attackers.
He termed the incident as an unfortunate and cowardly act against innocent civilians.
He further claimed that such incidents are aimed at sabotaging community projects.
A police report released Friday evening indicated that the shooting occurred at around 2200 hours when gunshots were heard at Bogyar Trading Center along the Dadaab-Garissa Road. As a result, two people believed to be non-locals who were at the dispensary construction site were confirmed dead.
The police report stated that the motive for the killing is yet to be known.
