City Stars, Kibera Black Stars and Migori Youth shine in thrilling NSL weekend
It was a strong weekend overall for City Stars, Black Stars, and Migori Youth — teams that have shown early signs of ambition in what promises to be one of the most competitive NSL seasons in recent years.
The National Super League (NSL) delivered another action-packed weekend, with Nairobi City Stars, Kibera Black Stars, and Migori Youth all securing crucial wins to keep their early-season momentum alive.
Nairobi City Stars, recently relegated and nearly disbanded, continued their remarkable resurgence with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Kabati Youth.

Amunike once again proved decisive, scoring in the 44th minute after a lively start that saw goalkeeper Livingstone make two vital saves to keep the team in contention. The result marked City Stars’ second consecutive win, giving them a morale boost heading into the international break.
In Kawangware, Kibera Black Stars edged MOFA FC 1–0 thanks to a stunning long-range strike from Brian Odhiambo just before halftime. Despite a determined second-half push from MOFA — highlighted by a near miss from Bundi — the home side stood firm to claim all three points.
Over in Awendo, Migori Youth FC staged an impressive comeback to beat Kisumu All Stars 2–1 in the fiercely contested Nyanza Derby.
After a goalless first half, Wycliffe Opuro put All Stars ahead in the 54th minute, but Migori Youth rallied through Geoffrey Odira and substitute Elvis Wafula, whose 77th-minute goal sealed the win.
Elsewhere, Fortune Sacco and Nzoia Sugar FC played out a goalless draw, while Mully Children’s Family (MCF FC) cruised to a dominant 3–0 victory over Mwatate United FC.
