Kenya cruised to a nine-wicket victory over Seychelles in the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Sub-regional Qualifier B, thanks to a standout performance by skipper Shem Ngoche. His three-wicket haul helped limit Seychelles to 74 runs, setting up an easy chase for the Kenyan batters at Ruaraka.
Kenya secured a dominant nine-wicket win over Seychelles in their fourth match of the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Sub-regional Qualifier B at Ruaraka Sports Club on Wednesday, 23rd October.
Skipper Shem Ngoche led the charge with a stellar bowling performance, taking three wickets and delivering a maiden over while conceding just nine runs in his four overs. His efforts were crucial in dismantling the Seychelles lower order, restricting them to just 74 runs in 20 overs.
Kenya's early momentum was set by Sachin Gill, who dismissed Islam Mazharul and Thiwanka Rajapaksha in quick succession, both for a combined total of just one run in the first two overs. Ngoche then took over, claiming three wickets, including a duck for Gnanapragasam Nagarajann, to put Kenya in a strong position for the run chase.
The Kenyan batting lineup quickly wrapped up the match, with Neil Mugabe leading the way with an unbeaten 33. Rushab and Rakep Patel contributed 20 and 23 runs respectively, as Kenya chased down the target in just 10.3 overs.
This win ensures Kenya's spot in the regional finals, setting up a crucial clash against table-toppers Zimbabwe on Thursday.
