UDA sets stage for grassroots elections in 22 counties

The upcoming elections mark the second phase of the party's efforts to solidify its grassroots structures, having already completed elections in five counties.
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced the new dates for its grassroots elections as April 11 and 12, 2025.
According to a statement from Embu Governor and UDA Chairperson Cecily Mbarire, the elections will be carried out across 22 counties with 113,800 candidates set to face the ballot.

"Grassroots elections are vital in ensuring that the voices of our communities are heard and represented. By empowering local leaders, we cultivate leadership that is not only responsive but also accountable to the people," read the statement in part.

The 22 counties being targeted by the polls include Bungoma, Garissa, Iriolo, Kajiado, Kilifi, Kisil, Kisumu, Kitui, Kwale, Lamu, Machakos, Makueni, Wajir, Manders, Marsabit, Migori, Mombasa, Nyamira, Slaya, Taita Taveta, Tana River, and Turkana.
In preparation for the elections, UDA has set up digital structures to enable a free and fair process.
"We have procured over 10,000 gadgets to ensure that the elections are conducted seamlessly through a digital electronic framework that will ensure the election is open, free, fair and with instantaneous results at polls dose," the party stated.
The UDA elections board has also encouraged interested candidates to finalize their registration before the deadline of March 21, 2025.
The registration process remains open through the official party portal, providing all eligible members an opportunity to participate in shaping the future of the party at the grassroots level.
"We are committed to ensuring that these elections are reflective of the will of the people," noted the party further.
