President Ruto encourages candidates as KCPE, KPSEA kick off

President William Ruto has encouraged the candidates sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations to give their best effort. He expressed these sentiments while overseeing the distribution of examination papers to candidates at Kikuyu Township Primary School in Kiambu County. The President wished the students success, assuring them that the government has created an enabling environment for a smooth transition into the next phase of their education.

The exams, which kicked off nationwide, signify the end of the 8-4-4 education system in primary schools. Education Ministry officials and exam supervisors ensured the smooth distribution of examination materials, emphasizing the importance of facilitating all registered learners to sit for their exams without any disadvantage. Education PS Belio Kipsang reiterated the ministry's commitment to ensuring a fair and seamless examination process for all candidates, emphasizing that no child should be left behind.

Over 3.5 million candidates are expected to take the exams this year, with 1.4 million KCPE candidates, 1.2 million KPSEA candidates, and 903,260 KCSE candidates. President Ruto praised the students for their diligent preparations and underscored the government's commitment to providing every child with the opportunity to progress to the next level of education. This year's KCPE exams mark the culmination of the 8-4-4 system, with this cohort being the final group to undertake the traditional KCPE examinations.
