Coast Guard urges holidaymakers to prioritise safety during festive season

To help enforce these guidelines, the KCGS is actively patrolling the waters and beaches, keeping a watchful eye on all holidaymakers.

Kenyans heading to the coast for the holidays have been urged to prioritise safety while enjoying water activities.

The Kenya Coast Guard Service (KCGS) in a notice on Monday outlined a series of important safety measures aimed at protecting vacationers during the festive season.

"We want to ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable time. As you enjoy your time on the water, remember to always wear a life jacket for your safety. Your safety is our priority," reads the notice.

To help enforce these guidelines, the KCGS is actively patrolling the waters and beaches, keeping a watchful eye on all holidaymakers.

The public was also encouraged to report suspicious activities to authorities to maintain a secure environment along the coastline.

In addition to wearing life jackets, tourists are advised to stay informed about weather updates and avoid overcrowding boats.

"KCGS is here to assist in case of emergencies," the Coast Guard said.

One of the key directives emphasises the importance of sticking to designated areas, particularly on public beaches.

The KCGS is also advising individuals to inform someone close to them about their plans to further enhance safety.

"Always inform someone of your plans and stay within designated areas, especially along public beaches," reads the notice further

The release of these guidelines comes at a time when many Kenyans are preparing to travel for the holidays, with a significant number expected to visit the coast.
