Obasanjo among dignitaries honouring Raila at Bondo funeral service

A long-time friend of the Odinga family, Olusegun Obasanjo joined President William Ruto, former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, and several regional leaders to pay their final respects.
Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo is among the dignitaries attending the funeral of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) in Bondo, Siaya County.

Jessica Magufuli, daughter of former Tanzanian President John Magufuli, and former Ugandan Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda are also present. Rugunda led a delegation representing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, including John Mulimba, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation.
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is represented by a delegation led by Minister of Industry Aimé Boji Sangara Bamanyirue. Botswana sent High Commissioner Andrew Onalenna Sesinyi to Kenya, while Zimbabwe is represented by Elizabeth Macheka Tsvangirai, widow of the former Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Chief of Defence Forces General Charles Kahariri, senior military officers, and opposition leaders such as Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, Narc Kenya’s Martha Karua, DAP–K’s Eugene Wamalwa, and former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i are also in attendance.
Cabinet Secretaries and MPs from across the political spectrum honoured Odinga, including Aden Duale (Health), Opiyo Wandayi (Energy), Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives), Hassan Joho (Mining), Davis Chirchir (Transport), Rebecca Miano (Tourism), Kipchumba Murkomen (Interior), and Soipan Tuya (Defence). National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, Minority Leader Junet Mohammed, Senators Edwin Sifuna and Prof Tom Ojienda, as well as former Chief Justice David Maraga, are also present.
Governors Fernandes Barasa (Kakamega), Kenneth Lusaka (Bungoma), and Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili joined senior ODM leaders at the funeral.
Earlier, Odinga’s body arrived amid thousands of orange-clad mourners, many travelling from as far as Nyeri, Eldoret, and Kasipul.
The funeral marked the final send-off for one of Kenya’s most influential political figures, who was laid to rest later at his Opoda Farm in Bondo. He was 80.
