“I arrived at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington to kick off my diaspora engagement with Kenyans in the USA. I was warmly welcomed by jubilant Kenyans here, and I am truly excited,´ he said in a post shared on X.
The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader is accompanied by his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi.
His visit to the US marks his first trip abroad since he was removed from office in October 2024.
Photos and videos of his arrival at the airport showed Gachagua being greeted with song, dance, and cheers from his flag-waving supporters.
“The love and support I received is unmatched,” he added.
Gachagua is expected to visit several cities, including Dallas, California, Seattle, Boston, and Baltimore, where he will hold town hall meetings and social forums with the diaspora community.
The gatherings are also expected to give him a platform to share his political message and hear from Kenyans living abroad.
During the tour, he has expressed plans to address key national issues affecting the country.
While he has not officially declared his intention to run in the 2027 General Election, he has already made it clear that he will not support President William Ruto’s bid for a second term.
On the evening of his departure from Nairobi, Gachagua was seen off at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) by close allies, including Nyandarua Senator John Methu, Kirinyaga Woman Representative Jane Njeri Maina, former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, and several other leaders.
Sources familiar with his itinerary have indicated that Gachagua will also meet US-based investors, who are reportedly open to working with opposition figures ahead of the 2027 elections.
The former deputy president said the US tour is part of a broader effort to connect with Kenyans abroad and keep them engaged on
