Mandatory registration for Kenyan athletes introduced by Athletics Kenya

Athletics Kenya has introduced a mandatory registration system for all athletes and support personnel in a bid to enhance service delivery and streamline participation in competitions. Unregistered athletes will not be allowed to compete in any events, including cross-country, track and field, and road races. The federation has urged athletes to complete the process promptly to avoid disruptions.

Athletics Kenya has announced the launch of a mandatory registration system for all athletes and support personnel in the country. The initiative aims to enhance service delivery and streamline participation in athletics events.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Athletics Kenya (AK) stated that unregistered athletes will not be allowed to compete in any events. These include AK Cross-Country and Track and Field Weekend Meetings, County and Regional Championships, National Trials for global competitions, and road races across the country.

"We wish to notify all athletes and athlete support personnel that going forward, no athlete will be allowed to participate in any athletics event without being registered in the AK Database Management System," the statement read in part.

The federation further clarified that registration is compulsory for athletes seeking AK services such as support letters. A registration link will soon be provided for athletes living abroad to facilitate their enrolment.

"Registration is MANDATORY for any athlete who wishes to receive Athletics Kenya services, including the issuance of various support letters," the statement added.

AK has urged athletes to complete the process promptly to avoid disruptions to their participation in upcoming events.
