Relegation battle intensifies in the National Super League

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Leagues and Competitions Committee has recently imposed penalties on Dimba Patriots FC and SS Assad FC for failing to honor their respective FKF National Super League (NSL) Round 17 fixtures.

Dimba Patriots FC faced a deduction of 6 points and 4 goals after failing to host their home match against Samwest Blackboots FC on Sunday, January 26, 2025. This penalty has caused them to drop to 19th place in the 20-team league, now standing at 11 points.

SS Assad FC was penalized with a 3-point and 2-goal deduction for not honoring their away match against MOFA FC, scheduled for Saturday, January 25, 2025. This sanction has placed them at the bottom of the league table with 9 points.

These deductions have intensified the relegation battle, as both teams find themselves deeper in the danger zone. Their upcoming matches are crucial: SS Assad is set to host 3K FC in Ukunda on Saturday, February 1, while Dimba Patriots are scheduled to visit Kibera Black Stars on Sunday, February 2. Failure to honor these fixtures could result in their expulsion from the league and relegation to FKF Division One, as per league regulations.

In other league news, Migori Youth FC and Naivas FC played to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. This result leaves Migori Youth FC in 14th place, while Naivas FC climbed two spots to 7th on the league table.
