Patrick Matasi suspended over match-fixing allegations

Patrick Matasi has been provisionally suspended for 90 days as the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) investigates allegations of match manipulation.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has provisionally suspended Kakamega Homeboyz goalkeeper Patrick Matasi for 90 days amid an ongoing investigation into alleged match manipulation.

In a letter addressed to Kakamega Homeboyz and the player, FKF confirmed that the decision takes immediate effect, barring Matasi from all FKF-sanctioned competitions. The suspension is in accordance with Section VII (2) of the FKF Anti-Match Manipulation Regulations (2016).

This comes after videos surfaced online raising concerns over possible match-fixing. FKF has launched an investigation in collaboration with FIFA, CAF, and other relevant authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding the allegations.

Matasi, an experienced goalkeeper with international caps for Kenya, now faces an uncertain period as the probe unfolds. FKF has formally informed both the player and his club of the suspension as the investigation progresses.
