Hussein Mohammed warns against hooliganism in FKF sanctioned matches

FKF chief Hussein Mohammed revealed that the federation will urgently set up statutory and standing committees, including disciplinary and appeals committees, to deal firmly with cases of misconduct and ensure accountability going forward.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has called on clubs to embrace discipline, strong structures, and family-friendly environments in a bid to restore integrity in local football.
Speaking during the unveiling of three National Super League (NSL) clubs that have partnered with gaming firm Mozzart Bet, Hussein stressed that indiscipline and hooliganism remain the biggest threats to the growth of the game.

“This is the time to attract families to come to the stadium. We did it with Java, we did it with CHAN, and we can also do it with your clubs. We must have discipline within our leagues, good structures, and proper entertainment during our games. This is the only way you will sustain support from the private sector, government, the federation, FIFA, CAF, and all stakeholders in football development,” he said.
He warned that a lack of discipline could drive away sponsors, fans, and partners, urging clubs to ensure that the progress being made does not collapse under mismanagement.
“Be careful that this first step does not also trip you. You have to run a steady ship, so that next year we can double or triple the title sponsorship. To the teams, you have a lot of work ahead of you,” Hussein added.
The FKF president further revealed that the federation will urgently set up statutory and standing committees, including disciplinary and appeals committees, to deal firmly with cases of misconduct and ensure accountability going forward.
“We have rules that must be adhered to. Once the committees are in place, there will be no more excuses. We will call you for workshops and training, and after that, it will not be business as usual. We must help each other to grow football, eliminate bullying against women, and put up structures that strengthen the game,” he noted.
His remarks come in the wake of a series of hooliganism incidents that have rocked FKF-sanctioned matches. In the past, teams such as 3K FC have faced sanctions, while Gor Mahia fans recently caused chaos at a SportPesa League fixture after forcing their way into the stadium, prompting police to use teargas to disperse the crowd.
At the same event, Embu’s 3K FC, Kisumu All Stars, and Migori Youth secured a Sh6 million sponsorship deal with Mozzart Bet. Of the total package, Sh1 million will go into merchandise support over the next year, boosting the clubs as they prepare for the new season.
The deal is expected to give the three NSL sides a much-needed financial lift while also setting an example for future corporate involvement in Kenyan football.
