APS Bomet refutes match-fixing claims, launches probe after string of losses

The club has ruled out suspicion of match manipulation, assuring fans and stakeholders that the investigations are aimed at safeguarding the team’s integrity and upholding professionalism.
Newly promoted FKF Premier League side APS Bomet has launched internal investigations into their defence and goalkeeping departments following a string of disappointing results, including their recent 2-1 loss to current league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz.
According to the club, the probe was triggered by a concerning trend of conceding early goals in recent matches, many of them within the opening 10 minutes, a pattern that has raised concerns among the technical bench and management.

The club has since ruled out any suspicion of match manipulation, assuring fans and stakeholders that the investigations are aimed at safeguarding the team’s integrity and upholding professionalism.
“APS Bomet has noted with concern the recent allegations of match-fixing. We strongly refute these claims, as they are false and misleading. As a club, we remain committed to the universal sports code and the values of fair play and integrity," the club stated.
"To maintain transparency, the club has launched internal investigations to rule out any possibility of match manipulation and uphold our professionalism. We call on our fans to stay calm and continue supporting the team as we address this matter firmly and fairly.”
The Black Berets, as they are fondly known, will next face Bidco United at the Kasarani Annex on Sunday, the same venue where they secured their first and only league win, a memorable victory against Kariobangi Sharks.
So far, APS Bomet have recorded just one win in five matches, losing the other four, leaving them anchored at the bottom of the standings with three points.
Their upcoming opponents, Bidco United, have been in fine form this season and currently sit fourth on the log with ten points.
Bidco kicked off their campaign in style, stunning Gor Mahia in their opener, and have since registered three wins, one loss, and a draw.
In their most recent outing, Bidco edged Ulinzi Stars 2-1, with Collins Akite and Thomas Wainaina getting on the scoresheet.
With both teams entering the tie under contrasting fortunes, all eyes will be on APS Bomet, not just for their on-field performance, but also for how the club manages its ongoing internal probe aimed at restoring trust and stability within the camp.
