Pamzo rues draw with Murang’a Seal, eyes bounce-back against Police
Pamzo, who guided Posta to a strong start this season, said the team must urgently fix its defensive frailties if they are to sustain its early-season momentum.
Posta Rangers head coach Sammy “Pamzo” Omollo was left frustrated after his side surrendered a comfortable two-goal halftime lead to settle for a 2-2 draw against Murang’a Seal in their round six FKF Premier League clash at the Kasarani Annex on Thursday afternoon.
Speaking after the match, a visibly disappointed Omollo lamented his team’s poor concentration and lack of defensive organisation in the second half, which allowed the struggling Seal side to claw their way back into the game.

“A little bit disappointed we couldn’t take the three points because we started very well and looked organised,” said Pamzo.
“We created some good chances and fortunately scored two before halftime. But in the second half, we didn’t focus a lot, and that’s how they scored the two goals. We didn’t defend well, we were not organised, and going forward we didn’t show any threat.”
Posta had gone into the break leading 2-0 through Caleb Olilo and Faustine Ojiambo, but the visitors responded after the interval with goals from Lucas Maina and Joe Waithira to snatch a share of the spoils.
Pamzo, who guided Posta to a strong start this season, said the team must urgently fix its defensive frailties if they are to sustain its early-season momentum.
“It’s now high time we start defending well because every game we’ve conceded,” he noted. “Before we play Police, we have to work hard off the ball, and that means defending. We have to learn how to stay tight and organised when we are leading.”
Despite the disappointment, the veteran tactician maintained that there was no cause for alarm, insisting that the 'Mailmen' remain on the right track.
“It’s too early to panic,” Pamzo added. “Last season we were fighting relegation; now we’re in the top three. If we had won today, we could be on top with Homeboyz. Everything is working well; we just need to correct those small mistakes, and we’ll be fine.”
The draw lifted Posta Rangers to 11 points, two behind league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz, while Murang’a Seal’s late rally earned them a vital point that moved them to 17th place on four points.
Posta will now turn their focus to a tough away fixture against Kenya Police FC on Sunday at the Police Sacco Grounds, as they look to regain their winning touch and tighten up at the back, something Pamzo has vowed will be their top priority this week.
