Gor, Homeboyz and Nairobi United drop points in action-packed Jamhuri Day fixtures

Gor Mahia, Kakamega Homeboyz, Posta Rangers and Nairobi United all dropped points in Jamhuri Day FKF Premier League action, allowing Kenya Police to stay top as APS Bomet’s revival continued.

The FKF Premier League served a full slate of Jamhuri Day fixtures on Friday, December 12, producing drama, frustration, heroic goalkeeping and late twists across the country.

Gor Mahia, Kakamega Homeboyz and Nairobi United all dropped crucial points, allowing Kenya Police to retain their advantage at the summit.

Bidco United and Mathare United battled to a goalless draw at Kasarani, a result that owed everything to the brilliance of Bidco goalkeeper Issa Emuria, who registered his seventh clean sheet of the season to move top of the golden gloves chart.

Mathare enjoyed early momentum, with Elli Asieche narrowly missing from a floated cross, but Emuria remained alert to deny Bidco several times. Herman Ngala and Kunyili wasted golden chances for the hosts as Mathare goalkeeper Kevin Ouru also produced big saves to keep the Slum Boys in it.

The second half was livelier, with Ouru denying Herman in a one-on-one and Emuria again responding sharply to Macharia and Ange’s late threats. Bidco’s attack remained blunt despite numerous entries into the box.

Bukhungu Stadium witnessed one of the most dramatic matches of the season as Homeboyz and Shabana shared the spoils in a breathless 2–2 draw.

Homeboyz dominated the first half, scoring early through Potiphar Odhiambo from the penalty spot after Peter Thiong’o was tripped by goalkeeper Stephen Ochieng. The hosts threatened to run riot, with Bendeka, Mudavadi and Thiong’o all coming close.

Shabana improved after the break and equalised late through Bronson Nsubuga, who buried a stoppage-time penalty to make it 1–1.

Substitute Oliver Majaka restored Homeboyz’s lead deep into stoppage time, sending the home fans into wild celebrations. But just seconds later, Shabana struck back with the final kick of the game, Wycliffe Omondi guiding home an inch-perfect cross to seal a dramatic 2–2 finish.

The draw sees Homeboyz move to 20 points while Shabana climb to 19, both staying firmly in touch with the leaders.

Gor Mahia’s winless run extended to three matches after throwing away a first-half lead to draw 1–1 with Bandari at Mbaraki.

Ghanaian midfielder Ebenzer Adukwaw gave K’Ogalo a 31st-minute lead after fine work on the flank by Shariff Musa. But as has become common in recent weeks, Gor failed to show the authority needed to kill the game.

Bandari, under interim coach Razak Siwa, grew into the match and equalised in the 57th minute when Gor youth graduate Geoffrey Ojunga powered home a header from Hassan Abdallah’s delivery, his second straight season scoring against his former side.

Despite late chances for Musa and substitute Essombe, Akonnor’s men could not reclaim control. The draw takes Gor to 20 points but extends a worrying slide for the defending champions.

Nairobi United’s struggles continued as they were held to a 1–1 draw by Murang’a Seal at Police Sacco Stadium.

The hosts struck early through Michael Karamor, who finished off a brilliant three-touch move orchestrated by Ovella Ochieng. Nairobi United controlled large spells of the first half, with Ernest producing a point-blank save to preserve their advantage.

But Seal turned the tide after the restart.

In the 51st minute, Joe Waithera weaved through the defence to equalise, finishing off a clever setup from Tony Musa. The match grew scrappy as both coaches made multiple substitutions, and torrential rain made the pitch difficult.

Despite late pressure from Nairobi United and a dangerous free-kick on Ovella, Seal held firm to secure a valuable point.

APS Bomet continued their resurgence with a disciplined 0–0 draw against title-chasing Posta Rangers. The match lacked clear scoring chances, with both teams cancelling each other out in midfield.

The point extends Bomet’s unbeaten run to four matches, while Posta drop valuable points in the title race, remaining one point off the top.
