Football Kenya Federation issues ultimatum to Migori Youth FC over stadium conduct

By |

Several teams in the NSL have complained of harassment during Migori Youth home games at Migori Stadium.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has issued an official notice to Migori Youth FC, addressing concerns regarding the treatment of visiting teams, officials, and media personnel at Migori Stadium during FKF National Super League matches.

Reports have surfaced detailing instances of harassment and safety breaches during matches hosted by Migori Youth FC, prompting the FKF to take action. The most recent incidents involved Luanda Villa SC during a league match on Sunday 14 April and on Wednesday 24th April against Mara Sugar.

Allegations include the denial of access to the pitch for visiting teams upon arrival, maltreatment of visiting team officials and players, harassment and violent conduct towards media personnel by Migori Youth FC security personnel, and constant insults and provocation of visiting team technical benches by fans.

The FKF Leagues and Competition Committee, under the direction of General SecrBarry Otieno, has established strict guidelines for the ongoing use of Migori Stadium as a host venue for FKF National Super League matches in response to these concerns.

These conditions include ensuring the safety and free access of all media personnel, permitting away teams to record matches for analysis purposes while guaranteeing their safety, granting unrestricted access to the pitch for visiting teams, media, and match officials, and mandating the presence of uniformed police officers, rather than stewards, at the inner perimeter gate accessing the pitch.

Match commissioners have been instructed not to allow any match to kick off at Migori Stadium if these conditions are not met.

Furthermore, Migori Youth FC have once again been instructed to compensate Darajani Gogo FC for damages incurred in a previous incident. Despite a directive from the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee, Migori Youth FC has allegedly failed to provide compensation within the stipulated timeframe.

The FKF has given Migori Youth FC seven days to settle the outstanding dues with Darajani Gogo FC as a final warning. Failure to comply may result in further sanctions from the FKF.

Migori Youth FC has yet to issue a public response to the FKF's ultimatum.
