Susan Kamau, the AK Chief Administrative Officer who launched the process in Iten, noted that the federation aims to have a unified system that captures all athletes' data.
"We have a lot of athletes across the country, and we need to have their data in one place for easy coordination as well as to track their careers." The system will also help us serve athletes better,” said Susan.
She also stated that AK is committed to empowering and supporting athletes, and the new registration system will create a more accessible and effective environment for Kenyan athletes to succeed.
She warned, "We highly encourage everyone to ensure they register as soon as possible to avoid any disruption in receiving crucial services, as it will be hard to get services if you are not in the data system after the exercise and the window period closes."
The countrywide registration started in Iten and will last from 24th July 2024 to 12th October 2024.
On 24th–30th July, Eldoret 1st–3rd August, Kapsabet 5th–11th August, Kaptagat 13th–17th August, Kitale 19th–22nd August, Keringet 26th–27th August, Kericho 29th–31st August, Bomet 2nd–4th September, Kisii 5th–7th September, Kisumu 9th–10th September, Mumias 12th–13th September, Nyahururu 18th–24th September, Nyeri 26th–27th September, Machakos 1st–4th October, Ngong 7th–9th October, and Nairobi 10th–12th October 2024.
During the registration process, athletes are required to submit their national identification card, original birth certificate, and passport. In contrast, coaches must provide their national identification card, evidence of their coaching level and certificate, the World Athletics code, and details of their discipline-specific coaching qualifications.
The aim of this comprehensive documentation is to verify and accredit all participants, thereby contributing to a streamlined and organised registration system.
