WhatsApp rolls out group call scheduling feature for easier planning

The new feature is designed to simplify the logistics of gathering multiple people on a call, especially in large groups, community chats, friends in different time zones or work-related meetings.
WhatsApp has officially rolled out a group call scheduling feature, allowing users to plan audio or video calls in advance within group chats.
The update, which began rolling out globally this week on both iOS and Android, adds a scheduling option directly in the group call interface, marking another step in WhatsApp’s ongoing push to compete with enterprise communication platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams.

The new feature is designed to simplify the logistics of gathering multiple people on a call, especially in large groups, community chats, friends in different time zones or work-related meetings.
How to make it work:
Open a group chat with at least one other participant.
Tap the call icon in the upper right.
Select “Schedule a Call” instead of starting one immediately.
Choose the date, time, and whether it is an audio or video call.
After that, all participants in the group will receive a notification and a calendar-style reminder in the chat with a “Join Call” button once the scheduled time arrives.
WhatsApp also recently announced that it is introducing in-app reminders and support for multiple call scheduling, which means users can plan recurring or one-off calls without needing third-party calendar apps.
“We’re always working to make WhatsApp more useful for everyday communication. With call scheduling, group coordination becomes easier, more predictable, and more respectful of everyone’s time,” it said.
This update follows a series of productivity-driven features added in recent months, including: Screen sharing during video calls, message editing and pinned messages, voice chat for large groups, where people can join casually without ringing all members.
If you do not see the option yet, check your app store for updates or wait for a gradual global rollout over the coming days.
