Spotify's Android app freezing, crashing for users on Wi-Fi

The issue appears to be affecting primarily Android users, particularly those on newer devices such as Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones.

A growing number of Spotify users worldwide are reporting a disruptive glitch.

The Android version of the popular music streaming app is crashing immediately upon launch, leaving listeners unable to stream music, access playlists, or even open the app interface.

The issue, first reported by tech outlet 9to5Google, appears to be affecting primarily Android users, particularly those on newer devices such as Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones.

Some reports also suggest that devices with Chromecast compatibility may be more vulnerable, though this has yet to be officially confirmed.

The app is reportedly crashing upon launch or freezing mid-use, with users on various forums describing it as “completely unusable”.

The crash occurs whether the device is on WiFi or not on mobile data, further pointing to internal app errors rather than network-related problems.

"The app just shuts down two seconds after opening. I’ve cleared cache, uninstalled, nothing works," one frustrated user wrote on Reddit.

As of this writing, Spotify has not issued an official fix or formal acknowledgement on their social media or support pages.

A few Spotify Community moderators have responded to individual user complaints, asking for device details and app versions, suggesting the issue is under review.

Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel owners are the most affected. Some users speculate that the issue may also be related to Chrome-Cast-ready devices.
