In contrast, daytime temperatures at the coast, North Eastern, and North Western Kenya are expected to exceed 30 degrees Celsius.

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has warned of significant variations in temperatures and weather conditions across different regions of the country from July 23 to July 29, 2024.

According to KMD, nighttime temperatures in the Central Highlands, Rift Valley, and south-eastern lowlands could fall below 10 degrees Celsius.

In contrast, daytime temperatures at the coast, North Eastern, and North Western Kenya are expected to exceed 30 degrees Celsius.

It added that there will be intermittent cold and cloudy conditions over the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, South-eastern lowlands, and Rift Valley.

“There is a probability of rainfall in the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Central Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and North Western Kenya,” the weatherman said.

Residents in the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley have been urged to expect rains in the morning and showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and night.

This includes counties such as Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia, and Migori.

In North Western Kenya, including Turkana and Samburu counties, the weatherman noted that morning rains will occur, with afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms expected in a few areas.

The Highlands east of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi, will experience intermittent cloudiness and light rains in some places.

In the morning, the areas will experience sunny intervals, with afternoon and night showers expected in predominantly high-ground areas.

In North Eastern Kenya, comprising Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, sunny intervals will dominate during the day, while nights may be partly cloudy.

“Morning rains may occur over some parts of Marsabit County,” the Kenya Meteorological Department said.

The South Eastern lowlands, including Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta counties, will see occasional cloudiness in the morning, transitioning to sunny intervals. Nights are anticipated to be partly cloudy.

In the Coast region, covering Mombasa, Tana-River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, sunny intervals are expected during the day, with nights likely to be partly cloudy.

However, the weatherman said there is a possibility of light morning and afternoon showers occurring over a few places during the first half of the forecast period.
