Kipsang, along with his wife and children, received treatment for minor injuries at Iten Referral Hospital and is currently recuperating at home in Muskut.

Former Kenyan marathon champion Wilson Kipsang has updated his fans on his recovery after a recent road accident, reassuring everyone that he is in good health and making notable progress.

The 2012 Olympic Games bronze medalist encountered a challenging start to the new year when his Toyota Landcruiser experienced brake failure in Kolol, Elgeyo Marakwet County, on January 1, 2024. Kipsang, accompanied by his wife and two sons in the vehicle, navigated the situation with resilience.

"I am doing well here at home. I fought hard to control the car safely, and I am glad I survived with my family members," shared the two-time London Marathon champion as reported by Mozzart Sport.

This incident marks the second accident for the long-distance runner, the previous one occurring four years ago along the Eldoret-Iten Road in 2019. Fortunately, Kipsang emerged unharmed when his Toyota Prado collided with a lorry.

Providing reassurance to well-wishers, Kipsang expressed that he and his family are recovering swiftly, with no cause for alarm. The marathon record holder at two hours, three minutes, and twenty-three seconds extended his assurance to fans worldwide during an interview with The Nation.

"I want to assure Kenyans and all my fans and friends worldwide that I am well," he stated.

Kipsang, along with his wife and children, received treatment for minor injuries at Iten Referral Hospital and is currently recuperating at home in Muskut.

Looking ahead, Kipsang, who recently completed a doping ban, expressed eagerness to return to competitive running. Currently honing his skills for a grand comeback, he is considering potential participation in the Tokyo Marathon on March 3, the Paris Marathon on April 7, or the Hamburg Marathon on April 24.
