DCI detains DJ Joe Mfalme for 14 days over detective's death
The suspects were accused of assaulting the late DCI officer in a minor traffic altercation.
Popular DJ, Joseph Mwenda Munoru alias DJ Joe Mfalme, will spend 14 days in detention as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) commences investigations into the death of its top detective, Inspector Felix Kelian Kitosi.
Kibera Law Courts magistrate, Margaret Murage, granted the DCI the order to detain the DJ and seven other suspects linked to the inspector's death.

DCI through Inspector Fredrick Kosen from the Dagoretti DCI offices had asked to hold the key suspects for 21 days, to allow detectives to compile sufficient evidence for the case which has attracted nationwide attention.
Other than DJ Joe Mfalme, Allan Ochieng, Simon Wambungu, and Eric Gathua, will be arraigned in court after two weeks to answer to charges preferred against them.
The suspects were accused of assaulting the late DCI officer in an altercation that ensued after he hit their car near Kikuyu Police Station in Kiambu County on March 16 at around 4 am.
Other suspects are traffic police officer Khadija Wako who helped the quartet apprehend the deceased and transport him to Kikuyu Police Station, and two colleagues Sammy Rotich and Agnes Kerumbo who were on duty on the fateful day.
The police officers were not linked to the assault of their senior colleague as they were arrested for negligence. Detectives claimed that they mishandled the police officer who complained of abdominal pain and was urinating blood when taken to the police station.
“The deceased left for home but later complained of abdominal pains suspected to have been occasioned by the beatings previously done by the suspects and was rushed to the hospital where he was admitted with lower abdominal pains,” Kosen stated in his affidavit filed at the court.
Kosen stated that a fifth person involved in assaulting the deceased is still at large. He thus asked for time to track down the fugitive and warned that the rest were likely to interfere with the investigations if they were not locked up during the probe.
In his prayers, he also asked for time to review the CCTV footage at the scene where the deceased colleague was assaulted.
The suspects' attempt to oppose the DCI's request through their lawyers was unsuccessful.
Earlier on, DJ Joe Mfalme released a statement indicating his willingness to cooperate with the police in unravelling the death of the top DCI officer.
