Man killed in bodaboda attack buried, family demands justice

The bereaved family of Hassan Muhumed Abdi, allegedly killed by a bodaboda rider last night, is demanding justice for their loved one.

As they gathered for his burial at Langata cemetery, they urged the police officers to ensure the perpetrator faces the full force of the law.

Hassan is said to have been attacked in Juja B Estate in Eastleigh after an altercation with a bodaboda rider over a Sh50 payment.

Bashir Sheikh Ilmi, the uncle of the deceased, expressed the family's frustration, stating that they are still grappling with confusion as they seek information about the circumstances of Hassan's death.

"Our son has died but we don't know how. We want justice," he said.

Hassan Muhumed Abdi, 24. He lost his life after an altercation with a bodaboda rider over a Sh50 payment.

Abdi Hassan, Hassan's cousin, recounted receiving a distressing phone call at night from an unknown individual, alerting him of the incident.

He rushed to the scene immediately and transported Hassan, who was in critical condition, to Care Hospital in California where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Despite the arrest of a suspect by the police, Abdi said he had not seen the alleged perpetrator. He said police were in possession of  CCTV footage that captured the incident and expressed hope that the culprit would be brought to justice to prevent such tragedies from recurring.

Abdi also clarified that the weapon used against Hassan was not a knife but a screwdriver. "It was a screwdriver, we want justice, that's all we are asking for," he said.

Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan in a post on X, echoed the family's sentiments, emphasizing the need for effective measures to protect residents and prevent senseless acts of violence like this from happening again.

He extended his condolences to Hassan's grieving family, acknowledging the profound impact of the loss on the community. "Effective measures must be implemented to ensure the safety

and security of residents and to prevent such senseless acts of violence from recurring in the future," said the MP

Before his untimely demise, Hassan was working with a prominent Somali content creator, endearing him to many within the community.
