KUCCPS announces over 13,000 teacher training slots for 2025 intake

KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Wahome said the 36 public TTCs will admit students into Diploma in Primary and Secondary Teacher Education programmes.

Over 13,000 slots are available for aspiring teachers as the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) opens applications for the 2025 intake into public Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs).

The placement service has announced 13,823 vacancies for diploma courses in primary and secondary teacher education, with the application period set to close on March 20, 2025.

KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Wahome said the 36 public TTCs will admit students into Diploma in Primary and Secondary Teacher Education programmes.

According to her, three colleges will accommodate 2,735 students pursuing secondary education training, while 33 institutions have a combined 11,088 slots for primary education training.

“A total of 13,823 slots are available in the 36 public Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) for the September 2025 intake into the Diploma in Primary and Secondary Teacher Education programmes,” Wahome said in a statement on Thursday.

She noted that currently, three colleges are offering a Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education, with a capacity to admit 2,735 students, while the remaining 33 are offering a Diploma in Primary Teacher Education, with 11,088 vacancies up for grabs.

Wahome said to qualify for the primary education diploma, applicants must have attained at least a C (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or an equivalent qualification. For secondary education training, a minimum of a C+ is required.

“Those with other qualifications different from KCSE should seek an equation from Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) to enable them to apply,” Wahome said.

“KUCCPS is encouraging interested and qualified Form Four leavers from the 2024 KCSE cohort and those from the previous years to apply for the slots.”

The application process is open to both Kenyan and non-Kenyan citizens, with submissions to be made online through the KUCCPS Student’s Portal available on the KUCCPS website.

Wahome urged applicants to be cautious and avoid falling victim to online fraudsters.
