Relief for KMTC graduates as transcripts to be available in all 88 campuses nationwide

The decentralisation of transcript collection is expected to ease the financial burden on graduates, particularly those who need their transcripts for employment abroad.

Graduates from Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) will no longer be required to travel to Nairobi to access their transcripts.

This new initiative allows them to collect their final qualifying examination (FQE) transcripts from any of the 88 KMTC campuses across the country, offering a more convenient and efficient way to access important academic documents.

The announcement was made on March 9, with KMTC confirming that the first batch of 10,000 transcripts for students who sat their FQEs in January 2024 were successfully distributed to the various campuses by March 4.

According to KMTC CEO Kelly Oluoch, the change comes in response to the increasing demand from employers who seek to hire KMTC graduates soon after they complete their exams.

"We have seen employers express interest in hiring our students immediately after they complete their FQEs," Oluoch said.

"That is why we resolved to release transcripts promptly, to enable our students to compete for jobs in real time. We would not want any of our graduates to miss out on an opportunity,” he said.

This reform applies to graduates from 2024 onward, who are encouraged to visit their respective campuses to collect their transcripts. All the documents have already been delivered to the campuses for distribution.

However, graduates from 2023 and earlier will still need to access their transcripts at the Nairobi headquarters.

"For students who graduated in 2023 or earlier, transcripts will continue to be issued from the Examinations Office at our Nairobi headquarters," Oluoch said.

The decentralisation of transcript collection is expected to ease the financial burden on graduates, particularly those who need their transcripts for employment abroad.

Oluoch noted that international demand for KMTC graduates has surged, with 3,249 employment verification requests processed in 2024 alone, a 50 per cent increase compared to the previous year.
