The FKF has outlined a clear design brief for the competition with a focus on national pride.
The jersey designs are expected to explore various cultural and national elements, incorporating the colours of Kenya’s national flag black, white, red, and green into the designs.
These colours hold significant meaning and are intended to ensure the jerseys align with the country’s identity and heritage.
Running from April 1 to April 15, 2025, the competition has strict submission guidelines. Each candidate can only submit one entry, which must be original and created by the individual submitting the design.
Participants must provide a brief description of their design, explaining the cultural or national significance behind their choices and how it connects to the spirit of football and the nation.
Entries can be submitted either as a painting, illustration, or a design overlaid onto a jersey template.
The competition is open to Kenyan citizens aged 18 to 35.
FKF will appoint an independent committee to review the entries and select the top three designs. The winners will be awarded Sh150,000 for first place, Sh100,000 for second place, and Sh50,000 for third place.
The winning designs will not only receive monetary rewards but will also become the official jerseys for Kenya’s national football teams.
The top three winners will be required to transfer all intellectual property rights to FKF upon signing a declaration form. This includes waiving any claims to royalties from the sale or use of their designs on national team jerseys or merchandise.
However, there are several rules candidates must follow.
Entries must avoid any discriminatory, derogatory, or offensive content. They must not promote harmful activities, include any personal identifiers, or feature logos and trademarks without permission.
Submissions should also not infringe on any copyrights, ensuring the designs are entirely the work of the entrants.
