KWS relaunches shuttle buses to key parks ahead of festive season
The shuttle service, as announced on Tuesday, will operate in Nairobi National Park, Aberdare National Park, and Lake Nakuru National Park.
The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) is bringing back its bus shuttle services to key national parks this weekend, December 20, as part of the “Jiachilie in Kenya Parks” holiday campaign.
The initiative aims to make park visits easier, more affordable, and enjoyable for families and holiday visitors during the festive season.

The shuttle service, as announced on Tuesday, will operate in Nairobi National Park, Aberdare National Park, and Lake Nakuru National Park, offering convenient transport options for those who prefer not to use private vehicles.
“Starting this weekend, December 20, we’re bringing back the bus shuttle service on weekends and public holidays only through the festive season as part of the Jiachilie in Kenya Parks holiday campaign,” KWS said.
“Explore our parks with ease at: Nairobi National Park, Aberdare National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park. Affordable, convenient, and perfect for family adventures this holiday season.”
For Nairobi National Park, shuttles will run two daily trips at 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, with pick-up points at Nagol Ivory Park and the park’s main gate. Adult Kenyan citizens and East African Community (EAC) nationals will pay Sh1,500, while children will be charged Sh750.
Residents who are not Kenyan or EAC nationals will pay Sh2,000 for adults and Sh1,000 for children.
At Aberdare National Park, buses will depart from Nyeri Post Office at 9:00 am, with fares set at Sh1,000 for adult citizens/EAC and Sh750 for children. Non-citizen residents will pay Sh1,500 for adults and Sh1,000 for children.
Lake Nakuru National Park will also see two daily trips at 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, departing from Railways near the police station.
Adult citizens/EAC will pay Sh1,750, children Sh850, while residents will pay Sh2,000 for adults and Sh1,000 for children.
KWS highlighted that the shuttle services, which primarily operate on weekends and public holidays, allow visitors to enjoy game drives without the need for private transport.
The move comes just a day after the government announced enhanced surveillance on major transport corridors to ensure safe travel for holidaymakers.
