FKF Premier League: Homeboyz, Ulinzi, and Police seek crucial wins

The FKF Premier League features four exciting matches this Sunday, with teams like Homeboyz and Ulinzi aiming to build on recent victories as they face tough opponents.

The FKF Premier League continues on Sunday with four crucial fixtures across the country. From Bukhungu to the Police Sacco Stadium, teams head into the matchday carrying mixed fortunes, some riding a resurgence, others desperate to steady their campaigns.

Kakamega Homeboyz return to Bukhungu with renewed confidence after ending their three-match winless streak with a commanding 2–0 victory over Posta Rangers.

A dominant display saw early chances fall to Thiongo, John Omondi and Nyatini, before Rodgers Ouma broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute with a composed finish for his debut goal. Second-half substitutes Henry Omollo and Hillary Juma combined brilliantly for Homeboyz’s second, sealing an important win.

Standing in their way is a revitalised KCB side who also claimed a morale-boosting result in midweek. The Bankers stunned Mara Sugar 1–0 in Awendo courtesy of what may be the fastest goal of the season, scored by December Kisakah inside the first minute. Despite sustained pressure from the hosts, KCB showed rare defensive solidity and used strategic substitutions, including Mieno, Etemesi, Okello and Nyakwaka to preserve the lead.

With both teams coming in off victories, this clash promises intensity, physicality, and a battle for momentum as the season approaches its midpoint.

Ulinzi Stars enter their home fixture in high spirits after a spirited 3–1 comeback win over Sofapaka, a result that marked their second straight victory. Despite conceding early to Douglas Kibet, the soldiers rallied through Masuta Masita’s 25th-minute equaliser. The second half was all Ulinzi, with Paul Okoth netting twice in the 58th and 74th minutes to seal the win.

That result lifted Ulinzi to ninth on the table with 12 points and renewed optimism within their camp ahead of the Bandari challenge.

Bandari, meanwhile, are coming off a frustrating goalless draw against Bidco United at St. Sebastian Park. Coach Mohamed Borji’s side showed defensive discipline but lacked sharpness in the final third. The draw extended Bidco’s goal drought, but Bandari had to be content with a point on the road.

Sunday’s meeting in Nairobi pits Ulinzi’s growing attacking confidence against Bandari’s organised structure, a matchup that could hinge on efficiency in the final third.

Murang’a Seal will be looking to convert dominance into victory after a 1–1 draw with Shabana in a lively derby. Seal fell behind early after a deflection favoured the visitors, but John Kiplangat’s towering header from Tony Musa’s cross drew them level at the half-hour mark.

Despite controlling possession, creating multiple chances, and pushing aggressively late in the game, Seal could not find the winner.

They now welcome Kariobangi Sharks, who are also coming from a draw in a hard-fought 1–1 stalemate with AFC Leopards at Kasarani. Sharks took an early lead through Humphrey Aroko and continued to threaten, forcing Katasi into a critical save. However, Leopards struck back through Victor Omune in the second half after a period of sustained pressure.

A match already drawing attention off the pitch due to fan complaints over ticket prices, Sh500 for regular, Sh2,500 for VIP and Sh3,000 for VVIP. Police vs Shabana promises fireworks on the field as well.

Police come into the fixture after a dramatic 3–2 win over Bidco United at Nyayo Stadium. First-half goals from David Simiyu and Eric Zakayo gave them a 2–0 cushion, but Bidco roared back through Jacob Onyango and Thomas Wainaina in quick succession.

Substitute Exaule Misuri then delivered the decisive strike deep into stoppage time, lifting the champions to third on the log with 17 points, just two behind leaders Gor Mahia.

Shabana, meanwhile, earned a 1–1 draw against Murang’a Seal but remained frustrated by dropped points. Their spirited performance in Murang’a, however, showed the grit and hunger that has defined their season.

With Police chasing top spot and Shabana eager to prove their mettle despite off-field controversies, this late kickoff is poised to deliver drama befitting the atmosphere.
