The deceased, identified as Abdirahim Abdullahi, was fatally shot on 14th Street near DD Plaza, reportedly while in the company of a woman who sells tea in the area.

The incident occurred as Abdirahim was standing with the woman when an unidentified man approached them. The assailant captured by CCTV cameras seen by The Eastleigh Voice drew a gun and shot Abdirahim took his phone before fleeing the scene.

The woman, who was with Abdirahim at the time, quickly retreated into a nearby house following the attack.

Eyewitnesses informed The Eastleigh Voice that Abdirahim might have been saved had he received immediate medical attention.

According to witnesses, no one acted quickly to transport him to the hospital, leading to significant blood loss that ultimately resulted in his death.

Officers from California Police Station arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, collecting Abdirahim's body and have since launched an investigation into the incident.

The case has since been transferred to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at Shauri Moyo Police Station. As part of the ongoing investigation, the woman who had

been with Abdirahim was summoned to the police station, where she recorded a statement.

"We think it was caused by love. Someone else might have been jealous, or the lady might have framed him, but it's not conclusive. We are still investigating,"' the officer said.

A postmortem conducted at the City Mortuary revealed that Abdirahim had been shot just below the ear, with the bullet exiting from the opposite side of his head.

The loss of blood from this injury was cited as the primary cause of death.

Abdirahim will be buried on Sunday at Lang'ata Cemetery. The killing has sparked mixed reactions among Eastleigh residents, with some expressing concerns about rising insecurity in the neighbourhood.

"We feel insecure here. The police are not doing enough, even though We have several police stations around us," said Ahmed Hussein, a longtime resident.

The incident follows a string of violent events in Eastleigh, occurring just weeks after four women from the area were murdered in Nairobi.

Police currently have a suspect, Hashim Dagane, and others in custody regarding that case, further intensifying local residents' demands for improved security measures.

The investigation into Abdirahim Abdulahi's killing is ongoing as the DCI works to establish the exact circumstances surrounding his death.
