Health facilities to register online as KMPDC unveils new digital system

Health facilities across Kenya will now register through an online platform, ending the era of manual paperwork in a major shift by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).

KMPDC CEO David Kariuki on Tuesday said the new platform is a big step forward in improving how the council delivers its mandate.
“We wanted a system that is fast, accurate, and easy to use. This new platform delivers that. It is designed to guide the applicant, verify the data, and make the process clear at every stage,” he said.
According to Kariuki, the system is not just about convenience. It has built-in tools that check for errors, verify information automatically, and keep track of every action taken.
“The system doesn’t just store information. It also flags any wrong details and ensures only complete, honest applications move forward,” he said.
Once an application is submitted, an inspection is carried out by KMPDC officers. From the day of inspection, the council commits to processing the application within 21 working days.
Applicants receive email updates at every stage, from submission to final decision and can access the portal at any time.
The platform also makes it easier for KMPDC to manage its internal processes through automated alerts and approvals. Kariuki assured applicants that their data is safe under the new system.
“We fully comply with the Data Protection Act. All submissions are encrypted and access is tightly controlled,” he said.
He added that the changes are part of a wider plan to use technology to improve services in line with the government’s digital transformation goals.
“People want systems they can trust. By going digital, we’re making this process more transparent and reliable,” Kariuki said.
