Excitement at KICC as Kindiki arrives for swearing-in as Deputy President
The ceremony was scheduled to commence at 10 am, with attendees encouraged to arrive by 9 am.
Kenyans on Friday morning flocked to the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) to witness the swearing-in of Prof Kithure Kindiki as the Deputy President.
This significant event follows a High Court ruling that lifted previous conservatory orders barring Kindiki from assuming office.

Kindiki arrived at KICC shortly before 10 am, accompanied by his wife.
Before the ceremony, they made a stop at his former office at Harambee House, where he was welcomed by senior officials from the Interior Ministry.
The couple then proceeded to KICC, where excitement filled the air as supporters gathered to celebrate the occasion.
President William Ruto selected Kindiki for the Deputy President role following the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua. In anticipation of the large crowd, security measures were significantly enhanced at the venue.
Several leaders, including Cabinet secretaries, governors, senators, and Members of Parliament, were present, underscoring the importance of this milestone in the Kenyan political landscape.

The swearing-in ceremony will include two main celebrations, one at KICC and another at State House, Nairobi.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo said the event at KICC will primarily be a judicial proceeding, with Kindiki expected to take the oath of office. Chief Justice Martha Koome will oversee the ceremony, which is anticipated to last one hour.
The ceremony was scheduled to commence at 10 am, with attendees encouraged to arrive by 9 am.
"We have made security arrangements in terms of traffic flow. Remember it is a public holiday, so we are not expecting to disrupt those who are at work or in business," Omollo stated.
KICC is expected to host around 10,000 Kenyans who have been invited to participate in this historic event. After the swearing-in, President Ruto will host a celebration at the State House for invited guests, including diplomats representing various countries in Kenya.
"The President will host the Deputy President for a banquet with a number of invited guests as part of the executive and diplomats. After that, the Deputy President is expected to move into his office at Harambee Annex," Omollo said.
