According to Nyeris, Odede passed away on Friday, January 3, 2024.
"During this period of mourning, we send our message of condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the family, friends and all those who knew Roseline. May the memories of her exceptional service bring comfort and strength in this difficult time," wrote Nyeris in a statement.
The rights body sent its condolences to Odede’s family and friends, acknowledging the significant void her passing has created.
“As a commission, we had the privilege of serving with Roseline Odede as the chairperson at the helm of the KNCHR’s leadership. Her untimely death is a big blow to the commission and the nation at large,” said Nyeris.
Odede, an advocate of the High Court, was the former vice chairperson of the Judges and Magistrates Vetting Board.
At one time, Odede applied for the position of an IEBC commissioner but was not successful in the July 2021 interviews.
