Motorists using the Uhuru Highway are set to experience traffic disruption as the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) begins construction of a pedestrian underpass at the Haile Selassie roundabout.
The disruption will start on January 16 and last until February 20, 2025.

"This traffic disruption is due to scheduled road works for construction of a pedestrian underpass at the section which will commence from Thursday, January 16, 2025, to Thursday, February 20, 2025," KeNHA said.
KeNHA explained that the disruption is necessary for the ongoing roadworks aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety at the location.
The authority has urged drivers to adhere to the proposed traffic management plan during this period to ensure smooth movement.
Police officers and traffic marshals will be stationed on-site to assist with traffic flow.
This announcement follows a previous traffic disruption in the same area, which was scheduled from November 28, 2024, to January 27, 2025, for the construction of the pedestrian underpass.
That disruption also included the rehabilitation of a weighbridge and the resurfacing of pavements along the road.
In a related development, KeNHA had temporarily closed a section of the Nairobi Southern Bypass from the Ole Sereni Interchange to the Ngong Road Interchange for essential bridge and pavement repairs.
That closure, which ran from December 24, 2024, to January 5, 2025, has since been lifted, with the section now open to traffic.
KeNHA has expressed gratitude to the public for their patience during the roadworks and temporary closures.
"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to inform the public that the section of Nairobi Southern Bypass from Ole Sereni Interchange to Ngong Road Interchange has been opened to traffic today," the authority stated.
As the construction work continues, KeNHA is urging all motorists to exercise caution and observe road signs for their safety and that of other road users.
"Motorists are advised to observe road signs and exercise caution for their safety and that of other road users. Don't speed to impress, arrive to embrace," the statement added.
