Senator Tabitha Mutinda appointed to global board on World Bank, IMF

Senator Tabitha Mutinda's election is widely seen as recognition of Kenya’s increasing role in shaping discussions on governance, accountability, and sustainable development worldwide.

Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda has been selected to serve on the Board of Governance of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), underscoring her growing influence in international development circles.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi formally announced the appointment on Wednesday afternoon, congratulating Mutinda and urging fellow senators to extend their full backing as she assumes this prestigious role.

She will represent the East Africa region for a two-year term spanning 2025 to 2027.

The Parliamentary Network is an independent organisation that provides legislators worldwide with a platform to engage directly with the World Bank Group and the IMF. Its focus is on strengthening accountability, transparency, and effective development practices.

The network promotes responsible management of public resources, poverty reduction strategies, and policies that drive inclusive economic growth through dialogue between parliamentarians, civil society, and international financial institutions.

As a board member, Mutinda will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the network and overseeing its global operations.

She is scheduled to formally begin her duties on October 13, during the Parliamentary engagements at the 2025 Annual Meetings of the World Bank and IMF.

Following the announcement, several senators, including Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho), Enoch Wambua (Kitui), Agnes Kavindu (Machakos), and Joe Nyutu (Murang’a), lauded Mutinda for her outstanding service record.

"They commended her impressive record of service to the people of Kenya and encouraged her to continue exemplifying excellence on the global stage," the Senate statement read. "The lawmakers pledged their unwavering support to ensure that Mutinda successfully fulfils her new responsibilities with distinction."

Mutinda is expected to continue serving her senatorial duties alongside her international assignment, reflecting her commitment to both national and global leadership.

Her election is widely seen as recognition of Kenya’s increasing role in shaping discussions on governance, accountability, and sustainable development worldwide.
