No fatalities have been reported as the investigations continue, with police seeking to unravel the cause of the accident.
Eyewitnesses blamed the truck for veering off the road, insisting that the school bus driver attempted to evade the accident and save the students.
Reports further indicate that the students were on their way back to Nairobi after participating in the National Music Festival Competition at Moi Girls High School.
The injured pupils were rushed to Molo Sub-County Hospital and Nakuru Level Five Hospital for treatment. The four others, a school cook and three teachers, were also attended to.
Timon Odingo, the Molo Sub-County Police Commander, confirmed the incident.
"A tow truck collided with the school bus; the bus subsequently struck two other private vehicles. Thankfully, the occupants of these vehicles escaped without injuries," said Odingo.
The 21-kilometre stretch from Salgaa trading centre to Sachang'wan, on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway, is an infamous black spot that has claimed many lives for decades.
In 2018, the government erected concrete barriers to separate lanes for Sh500 million.
Years later, road authorities also erected signage along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway to inform drivers to exercise caution while approaching blackspots along the unwinding sections of the road.
