The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) board of directors on Monday appointed Ahmed Farah as the chamber’s new Chief Executive Officer.

The new CEO is the immediate former country director for TradeMark Africa in Kenya. He now succeeds Patrick Nyangweso.

The chamber is a membership-based private-sector organisation that represents Kenya's business community and their interests.

“His expertise in creating strategic public-private partnerships has significantly boosted international investments to modernise Kenya's infrastructure and trade systems,” KNCCI President Erick Rutto said.

According to Rutto, Ahmed's vision goes in tandem with KNCCI's commitment to enhancing the country's competitive edge in the global market.

Ahmed has pioneered initiatives under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework, said Dr Rutto, especially towards supporting women and youth entrepreneurs.

“His role on Kenya's National Investment Council, as appointed by President William Ruto, underscores his importance in shaping investment strategies and policies that attract global investors and stimulate sustainable growth,” said the KNCCI president.

During his tenure at TMA, Ahmed led transformative programs focused on Kenya’s economic growth and regional integration.

He also sits on Kenya’s National Investment Council, where he plays a role in crafting investment strategies to attract global investors and promote sustainable growth.

Additionally, he contributed to a presidential think tank on economic recovery post-COVID-19, showcasing his dedication to building a resilient economy.

KNCCI Chairman Erick Rutto highlighted Ahmed’s initiatives within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework, especially those aimed at empowering women and youth entrepreneurs.

Rutto praised Ahmed as a key figure in driving sustainable trade and supporting an investment-friendly climate that aligns with KNCCI’s mission to strengthen Kenya’s economic resilience.

Ahmed holds a Master’s in International Development from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor of Commerce from Kenyatta University.
