Azimio leader Raila Odinga while attending an interdenominational prayer service in Kajiado, called for a global condemnation of the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

He emphasized that taking sides and condemning one party over the other would not contribute to resolving the dire situation. Raila stressed that the key to establishing lasting peace in the region lies in recognizing Palestine as an independent state.

Raila expressed the critical need for the international community to acknowledge Palestine's right to exist as a sovereign and free nation. "There can only be lasting peace along the Gaza Strip if Palestine is accorded permanent residence and recognition of their rights to exist as a free and independent people," Raila asserted.

He further highlighted the necessity for all humanity to denounce the violence that has led to the destruction of vital infrastructure, including schools and hospitals.

Raila's remarks arrived shortly after President William Ruto publicly declared his support for Israel, marking a contrasting stance.

The former Prime Minister's call for a more nuanced and balanced approach to the conflict seeks to highlight the importance of recognizing the fundamental rights of both sides and fostering a sustainable resolution.

The interdenominational prayer service in Kajiado also underscored the collective hope for peace to prevail in the ongoing crisis between Israel and Palestine.

As global attention remains focused on the escalating tensions, Raila's appeal for a more comprehensive and inclusive approach aims to inspire a broader dialogue and actions that prioritize a peaceful and equitable resolution to the longstanding conflict.
