Ramadhani Bungale named UDM secretary-general

United Democratic Party named Ramadhani Masudi Bungale as their new secretary-general after a two-day National Executive Committee and leadership meeting in Naivasha.
The party leader, Ali Roba, who is also the serving Mandera Senator, announced the appointment on Thursday.

He said the new secretary-general has vast experience working for the government and brings a wealth of knowledge to the UDM party.
Roba stated that Bungale takes over from David Ohito who joined the government for different assignments.
He also announced that the party formed a disciplinary committee chaired by Mandera South MP Abdul Hore.
He said the party will launch a countrywide campaign to recruit more members.
Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali said the party remains affiliated with the Kenya Kwanza government and urged party members to support the ruling party to achieve its national agenda.
He emphasized the need to hasten grassroot campaign to recruit more members countrywide.
Mandera Governor Mohamed Khalif called on Kenyans to join the UDM party which he said currently produced more than 60 per cent of Members of the County Assembly and the Members of the National Assembly in Mandera County.
"Come 2027, the UDM party will either be the second or third largest political party," said the Governor.
Several other party members including MPs and MCAs reaffirmed their commitment to work with the ruling party and the need to expand the party membership.
UDM party ditched the Azimio coalition in August. In the 2022 elections, the party produced two governors, two senators, seven MPs and 35 Members of the County Assemblies.
