Kenya Met issues chilly weather, rainfall alert for multiple counties
Showers are expected to begin in the afternoon and continue into the night, often accompanied by thunderstorms.
Residents across Nairobi and other parts of Kenya are expected to experience cold and cloudy weather over the next five days, from Friday, August 30, to Tuesday, September 3, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department.
The advisory highlights falling temperatures in the Highlands, Rift Valley, and South-eastern lowlands, with occasional rains expected in some areas.

The forecast shows that the Highland East counties, including Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi, will experience temperatures ranging between 5°C and 7°C.
In counties such as Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, and Elgeyo Marakwet, temperatures are likely to fall to around 8°C.
Cold and cloudy conditions will also affect Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.
Meanwhile, coastal areas including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale are expected to remain relatively warm, as are counties in the North-eastern region such as Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo.
The department further warned of possible rainfall in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley counties mentioned earlier.

On Monday, September 1, and Tuesday, September 2, the rain is likely to start in the morning.
In addition, strong southerly winds exceeding 25 knots are forecast over the Coast, South-eastern lowlands, and parts of North-eastern and North-western Kenya.
