Husband on the run for killing 47‑year‑old wife in Mwihoko arrested
The DCI said Kibue allegedly stabbed Wambui on the right side of her chest using a spearhead, causing injuries that led to her death before he escaped from the scene.
A 59-year-old man who had been on the run after allegedly fatally stabbing his 47-year-old wife has been arrested.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Githurai detectives traced and captured Charles Maina Karungae Kibue at a hideout in Kayole after a manhunt was launched following the incident in Mwihoko, Kiambu County.
The detectives arrested Kibue following the fatal stabbing of his wife, Elizabeth Wambui, in a domestic incident that happened on June 14, 2026, at her shop in the Delta area of Mwihoko Township.

According to a report filed at Mwihoko Police Station, a domestic disagreement broke out between the couple at Wambui’s business premises before the husband allegedly attacked her.
The DCI said Kibue allegedly stabbed Wambui on the right side of her chest using a spearhead, causing injuries that led to her death before he escaped from the scene.
"Officers responded swiftly to the scene, discovering Wambui lying in a pool of her own blood, bleeding profusely," the detectives said.

She was rushed to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH), where she was pronounced dead on arrival. DCI said her body has been moved to Kenyatta University Funeral Home, where it is being preserved awaiting a postmortem examination.
Investigators, who processed the scene, said they recovered a bloodstained spearhead believed to have been used in the attack. The weapon was secured as an exhibit for further examination.
Kibue is currently in custody, undergoing processing before he is arraigned in court.
The DCI has urged members of the public to continue reporting crime through its anonymous reporting channels.
