Politically, Rigathi is facing growing isolation from political leaders representing the Mount Kenya region.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Friday revealed to Kenyans that attempts to have him leave his position as President William Ruto's principal assistant are emanating from him being a truthful man.

Gachagua, who looked unperturbed by attempts to impeach him by his political enemies said he will not stop being truthful.

Gachagua added that some of the leaders have been forced to wage war against him.

The DP alleged that some people were paying other leaders to plot his ouster.

"They say that I'm high-headed, that I'm too people-centred, and that I listen to people too much. That I'm tasking people to listen to what Kenyans are saying, I don't think it is a crime," he said during an interview with Citizen TV.

Gachagua further explained that as leaders, they are obliged to listen to all Kenyans.

He vowed to continue having a listening ear to the grievances of the people who elected him.

"Leadership is about the people, for you to be a good leader, you must listen to the people. I keep on listening to the people and asking my fellow leaders to listen to the people. Today I'm wiser this evening than I was in the morning. You must listen to your employer."

The DP said that anyone who has an issue with him should report him to his employer who he said are the citizens.

Politically, Rigathi is facing growing isolation from political leaders representing the Mount Kenya region.

On Friday, Gachagua told off MPs who are reportedly plotting his impeachment, saying only Kenyans can remove him from office.

Speaking during his tour of Wakulima Market in Nairobi, the DP said he was elected by Kenyans and not MPs.

“I was elected by Kenyans. It is those Kenyans who can remove me from the seat when the time comes,” he stated.

Rigathi went ahead to say that lawmakers behind his impeachment attempt will not succeed in intimidating him.

“The other day, they brought together MPs and gave them money. They bribed them to intimidate me,” he claimed.
