KVF Kenya Men's Cup: GSU and KDF dominate opening weekend

Kenya Army's defeat to GSU was their second of the weekend as it followed up on their 3-0 (22-25; 23-25; 23-25) loss to Administration Police in their opening match on Saturday.

GSU and KDF dominated the opening weekend of the inaugural KVF Kenya Men's Cup after registering wins in their first two matches of the tournament.

The competition started on Saturday with three matches before action continued on Sunday with four matches. All matches were at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.

GSU, who are in Pool A, with Administration Police, Equity Bank, Kenya Army, and Kenya Ports Authority, got their campaign off to a good start after defeating Equity Bank 3-1 (28-26; 25-23; 24-26; 25-22) on Saturday. GSU then followed up that victory with a 3-0 (25-16; 25-16; 25-20) win over Kenya Army on Sunday.

In the other Pool A match played on Sunday, Equity Bank bounced back from their loss to GSU on Saturday with a 3-1 (17-25; 25-14; 25-14; 25-20) win over Administration Police.

In Pool B, KDF took control of proceedings with wins over Kenya Airports Police Unit (KAPU) on Saturday and Kenya Prisons on Sunday. KDF defeated KAPU 3-1 (25-21; 19-25; 25-20; 25-17) before beating Prisons by the same margin (25-14; 23-25; 25-16; 28-26).

In the other Pool B match which was played on Sunday, KAPU failed to recover from their loss against KDF, going down 3-1 (22-25; 23-25; 25-21; 13-25) against Trailblazers.

The Kenya Men's Cup takes a break after this weekend's action with KVF set to announce dates for the tournament's next match day.
