Gor Mahia disbands entire technical bench after trophyless season

Gor Mahia have disbanded their entire technical bench after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign that saw the club end the season without a trophy for the first time in nearly a decade. The decision follows their FKF Cup final defeat to newly promoted Nairobi United, capping a rare low point for Kenya’s most successful football club.

Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia FC have disbanded their entire technical bench following a rare trophyless season marking the first time in nine years the club has ended a campaign without silverware.

The move comes just days after Gor Mahia suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Nairobi United in the FKF Cup final, a loss that compounded a disappointing 2024/25 season for the Green Army. Nairobi United, a club recently promoted from the National Super League, will play in the FKF Premier League for the first time in the upcoming 2025/26 season.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, July 2, 2025, Gor Mahia announced a mutual separation with the entire technical staff, including the team’s security personnel, as part of a larger restructuring process.

“This decision follows a comprehensive internal review and is part of the Club's broader restructuring process aimed at strengthening its technical and operational capacity,” the club said in a statement.

The club emphasized that the decision was made amicably and in good faith, thanking the outgoing team for their “commitment, professionalism, and service.”

While details of the next technical setup remain under wraps, Gor Mahia assured fans that further announcements will be made soon as the club prepares to reclaim its dominance in the new season.

With 20 league titles to their name, Gor Mahia remain the most decorated club in Kenyan football, but the 2024/25 season will be remembered as one of their lowest moments in recent history.
