Eric 'Marcelo' Ouma named director as APS Bomet rolls out star-studded board

APS Bomet FC will mark their top-tier debut against Shabana FC on September 21, beginning their journey in the Premier League under the guidance of this diverse and ambitious board.

Newly promoted Football Kenya Federation Premier League side APS Bomet FC has unveiled a 17-member Board of Management, bringing together an impressive mix of professionals, sports icons, and leaders from various sectors.

The club stated that the united board shares a single vision to grow APS Bomet FC to the highest level and, within four years, bring home the FKF Premier League title.

"Introducing our 17 Board of Management Directors. One united board, one shared vision, to grow APS Bomet FC to the highest level &, within 4 years, bring home the FKF Premier League title," reads a post by the club.

Among the directors is Harambee Stars left back Eric "Marcelo" Ouma, who joins the board under the youth and community football development portfolio.

Ouma, an experienced international footballer, has represented Kenya in major competitions and is currently one of the country’s most consistent professionals abroad.

Also on the board is Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon, who has established herself as one of the greatest middle-distance runners of all time.

With multiple world titles and Olympic gold medals in the 1500m and 5000m races, Kipyegon brings to the club a wealth of experience in sports excellence and youth empowerment.

Adding sprinting power to the management is Ferdinand Omanyala, Africa’s fastest man and Commonwealth Games 100m champion. Omanyala is not only a continental record holder but also a global force in athletics.

The management board is chaired by businessman Dr Fred Akam.

Other directors include senior government officials, legal practitioners, media professionals, and business leaders such as Vuldan Kibet (Vice Chairman), Leonard Cheruiyot Mutai (Treasurer), Gladys Martha Yapha (Vice Treasurer), CI Rose Chemutai (Board Secretary and Club CEO), Lazarus Opicho (Commandant, Security of Government & VIP Protection Unit), Korir Festus Kiptoo (Vice Secretary), Ibrahim Omar (Sports and Chaplaincy, Jogoo House), Evelyn Wanjiru (Arts, Media & Community Empowerment), Robert Kiplangat Korir (Civil Servant), Nicholas Wambua (Communications Consultant), Edwin Ruto (Advocate of the High Court of Kenya), AbdulQadir Lorot (Chief Magistrate, Judiciary), and Bervelyn Opwora (Principal Secretary, Ministry of Interior).
