Tusker edge Bidco United in hard-fought Premier League clash
The final whistle confirmed a vital win for the Brewers, their first of the season.
Tusker FC edged Bidco United 1-0 in a hard-fought FKF Premier League encounter at the Kasarani Annex on Friday evening, courtesy of an early strike from Dennis Oalo that proved decisive.
The Brewers broke the deadlock just three minutes into the match. David Oruko danced past two defenders on the left wing before cutting in a low cross that Oalo calmly side-footed into the back of the net, a composed finish that caught Bidco’s defence off guard.
Bidco struggled to recover from the early setback but gradually grew into the game. In the 17th minute, Tusker nearly doubled their lead when Omolle battled down the left flank and found Oguta inside the box, but the forward’s low shot was expertly saved.
Tusker maintained control in midfield and came close again in the 33rd minute when Decha curled in a beautifully taken free-kick from 20 yards, only for Bidco’s keeper to collect comfortably.
The Brewers carried their slender lead into halftime, having done well to contain Bidco’s forward surges.
After the break, Tusker continued to threaten through wide play, with Omolle once again proving dangerous. In the 53rd minute, he beat his marker and cut the ball back across the goal, but Oalo narrowly failed to connect.
Coach Okere made tactical substitutions on the hour mark, introducing Vincent Owino and David Polepole for Fabian Adikiny and Cliff Oruko, a move aimed at injecting fresh energy into the attack. The changes nearly paid off in the 65th minute when Polepole fired a crisp volley from the edge of the box, only for Bidco’s goalkeeper to gather cleanly.
As the clock ticked down, Bidco pushed men forward in search of an equaliser. However, Tusker had another chance in the 75th minute when Momanyi swung in a precise cross to Oguta at the far post, but his header bounced agonizingly wide of the upright.
Tusker held firm through the closing stages, showing defensive discipline and composure to preserve their one-goal advantage. The final whistle confirmed a vital win for the Brewers, their first of the season.
