Kenya Police FC face a tough challenge after a 1-0 home defeat to Zamalek SC in the CAF Confederation Cup. With the second leg in Egypt, Police must step up to stay in the competition.

Kenya Police FC suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Zamalek SC in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round at Nyayo National Stadium. Mostafa Sayed’s goal just before halftime proved decisive, leaving Police with a difficult task ahead of the second leg in Egypt.

Zamalek dominated the early stages of the match, controlling possession and creating several chances. Police goalkeeper Patrick Matasi was called into action in the 8th minute, saving a shot from Ahmed Mostafa, as the visitors pushed for an early lead.

Despite struggling to gain a foothold, Police nearly took the lead in the 24th minute when Jaffary Owiti found himself through on goal but sent his effort wide of the target.

The breakthrough came in the 44th minute when Mostafa Sayed set up Abdalla Mohammad, who fired a shot past Matasi to give Zamalek the lead.

In the second half, Police coach Anthony Kimani made key substitutions, including bringing on Alvin Mangeni and Tyson Otieno to inject energy into the squad. Mangeni almost leveled the score in the 62nd minute, but his effort was cleared to safety by Zamalek’s defense.

As the clock wound down, Police pushed for an equalizer but were unable to break through Zamalek's well-organized defense. The match ended 1-0, setting up a challenging return leg for the Mozzart Bet Cup winners in Egypt.

Police will need to regroup and deliver a much-improved performance if they hope to overturn the deficit and secure a place in the next round.
