Firat names provisional Harambee Stars squad for back to back AFCON qualifiers against Cameroon

Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat has named a provisional squad of 27 players ahead of Kenya's upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers against Cameroon and Uganda. The team is set to face Cameroon in Douala on Friday, 11th October, followed by the return leg in Kampala on Monday, 14th October.

The goalkeeping department includes Ian Otieno of Richards Bay FC, Patrick Matasi of Kenya Police, and Byrne Omondi of Bandari. In defense, Gor Mahia's Alphonce Omija joins Daniel Anyembe from Denmark’s Viborg, Amos Nondi of Ararat, and Sylvester Owino, also from Gor Mahia. The backline is further strengthened by Johnstone Omurwa from Abha, Collins Sichenje of Vojvodina, Joseph Okumu from French side Reims, Geoffrey Ochieng of Gor Mahia, and Eric Ouma, who currently plays for Rakow.

The midfield features a mix of local and international talent. Tusker’s David Odoyo and Chrispine Erambo are called up alongside Dundee United’s Richard Odada, Zanaco’s John Ochieng, and Timothy Ouma from Elfsborg. Anthony Akumu, who plays for Kheybar, joins Yanga’s Duke Abuya, Ronney Onyango of Gor Mahia, Alfred Scriven from Bryne FK, and Gor Mahia’s Austine Odhiambo.

Leading the attack is team captain Michael Olunga, who plays for Al-Duhail in Oman. He is joined by John Avire from El Sekka El Hadid, Jonah Ayunga of St. Mirren in Scotland, Boniface Muchiri from Ulinzi Stars, Adam Wilson of New Saints, and Sydney Lokale of AFC Leopards.
