The 2025 Safari Rally, scheduled for March 20-23 in Naivasha, is poised to deliver another thrilling spectacle as preparations for the iconic motorsport event begin earlier than in previous years. Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen emphasized the rally's significance during a briefing with sponsors and partners on Friday.

Murkomen hailed the Safari Rally as more than just a sporting event, describing it as “a national heritage and a huge economic driver.” He highlighted its pivotal role in marketing Kenya on the global stage, following its reinstatement into the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar.

“The Safari Rally has transcended sports to become a national heritage and a huge economic driver. Its return to the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar has given us a unique platform to market our country to a global audience besides contributing significantly to local businesses,” he stated.

Murkomen also outlined the objectives for next year’s event, noting that preparations had commenced earlier to enhance the fan experience, improve driver safety, and increase operational efficiency to cut costs. He praised the sponsors and government agencies for their ongoing collaboration, which he credited with making the Safari Rally one of the most-watched rallies on the WRC calendar.

“Thanks to the enormous support from our sponsors and partners, the Safari Rally has grown to be the most watched rally in the WRC calendar. Together, we will deliver an unforgettable experience for the drivers and fans next year,” he said.

Murkomen encouraged Kenyans to seize the economic opportunities that come with the event, which is known to attract thousands of local and international visitors, significantly boosting the Naivasha economy and beyond.

The Safari Rally, celebrated for its challenging routes and scenic backdrops, remains a key fixture in the WRC calendar, promising a unique combination of motorsport excellence and cultural celebration.
