Some of them were seen pulling out items such as mattresses, while others used containers of water in an effort to fight the blaze.
Nairobi County fire engines could not reach the scene because the settlement has no accessible roads for heavy vehicles.
The available pathways are narrow and cannot allow firefighting trucks to enter, forcing residents to rely on their own limited means to battle the flames.
The course of the fire is still unknown.
Residents expressed frustration over the repeated fire incidents in the area, noting that this was the fourth fire reported in Kamukunji constituency since last Wednesday.
Previous cases were recorded in other informal settlements within the constituency, raising concerns about safety measures, road accessibility, and emergency response in such neighbourhoods.
