Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro has reshuffled several chief officers in changes affecting the county’s Finance, Water and Blue Economy departments, as his administration seeks to realign leadership roles and strengthen service delivery.
Under the changes, Lawrence Mwazonga Bokoro has been transferred from the Department of Water Services and Natural Resources Management to the Department of Finance, where he will take up new responsibilities.
Godfrey Gombo, who previously served in the Blue Economy department, has been appointed to head the Department of Water Services and Natural Resources Management.

Engineer Ezekiel Guma Mwarua has also been moved from the Department of Finance to the Blue Economy department as part of the reshuffle announced by the county government.
The changes affect departments that oversee key areas of Kilifi’s development agenda, including water access, natural resource management, revenue administration and the sustainable use of marine resources.
According to the county government, the reshuffle is aimed at strengthening accountability, improving performance and ensuring departments are led by officers whose expertise aligns with their new assignments.

Water remains one of Kilifi’s top priorities, with the county having long faced challenges in providing reliable water supplies, particularly in rural areas. The Department of Water Services and Natural Resources Management oversees water projects, conservation initiatives and the management of natural resources.
The Department of Finance plays a central role in county planning, budgeting, revenue collection and ensuring resources are allocated to priority programmes.
Meanwhile, the Blue Economy department is responsible for promoting the sustainable use of marine and coastal resources, supporting the fisheries sector and expanding economic opportunities linked to Kilifi’s coastline.
Governor Mung’aro’s administration has consistently identified improved service delivery and prudent use of public resources as key priorities.
The latest reshuffle comes as counties continue reviewing their leadership structures to enhance the implementation of development programmes.
The county government did not indicate whether the changes would be followed by further adjustments within the executive, but the appointments mark a significant reorganisation of leadership in three critical departments.
The affected chief officers are expected to assume their new roles immediately and oversee the implementation of programmes within their respective departments.
